The National Wealth Fund's GBP 25 million debt tranche is one leg of a GBP 110 million multi-bank fundraise for Osprey Charging, alongside commercial lenders Novuna Business Finance (Mitsubishi HC Capital UK), Societe Generale and Aldermore. Proceeds fund Osprey's continued build-out of super-fast/ultra-rapid EV charging hubs at prime UK locations, supporting national decarbonisation targets ahead of the 2030 ban on new internal-combustion-engine vehicle sales. The UK currently has roughly 82,000 public chargers against an estimated five-year requirement of at least 300,000.
Severity is kept low (1): the NWF is a minority co-lender in a majority-private commercial syndicate rather than the sole or dominant financier, consistent with the register's treatment of other state co-lending into EV-charging build-out (e.g. Bpifrance/Electra, Banque des Territoires/Etotem).
