We tested whether country regime-exposure (severity × 5-year recency-decay over filed IPTM actions) predicts subsequent country-ETF returns. It does not, at any tested horizon, after controlling for cross-sectional time fixed effects. This page documents the test honestly.
Test substrate: 1315 filed actions (1930-06-17 → 2026-06-24); 44 mapped country-ETFs × 125 months (2016-01-31 → 2026-05-31); 5,500 country-month observations. Generated 2026-06-27 06:31:39 UTC.
For each cross-section month, two complementary statistics:
Both are evaluated at 1m / 3m / 6m forward horizons, with bootstrap-by-month 95% CIs (n_boot=2000, seed=42). Falsifiable: if either CI excludes zero at any horizon, IPTM has signal.
| Horizon | Spread | 95% CI (spread) | Slope β | 95% CI (β) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1m forward | +0.10% | [-0.39%, 0.60%] | +0.02% | [-0.08%, 0.11%] |
| 3m forward | +0.33% | [-0.59%, 1.25%] | +0.09% | [-0.11%, 0.28%] |
| 6m forward | +0.11% | [-1.22%, 1.37%] | +0.19% | [-0.08%, 0.46%] |
Green numbers would indicate a CI excluding zero — i.e., signal. None of the six CIs do. The point estimates are economically tiny (≤25 bp/month spread) and statistically indistinguishable from noise.
Each bar is the average within-month-demeaned 1m forward return for a quintile of country-month observations sorted by exposure. A monotonic increase Q1 → Q5 would mean signal. The bars wobble without trend.
A noisy positive on a small sample wouldn't replicate. A clean null on a falsifiable, pre-committed test preserves credibility for the qualitative claims of the IPTM register. The relational graph (country exposure / sector exposure / material exposure / theme groupings and the per-action downstream-sector / downstream-country / ETF cross-impact panels) is a structured-data layer with analytical and cross-reference value, not a quantitative trading signal. That positioning is unchanged by this result; if anything it's reinforced — we tested honestly and it didn't overpromise.
